Dahlonega Information

Dahlonega, Georgia -- nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains -- is home to many natural and historic treasures. Dahlonega is the site of the first major gold rush in the United States, and has retained its historic ties to this industry. At the center of the town square, in the oldest public building in the state, is the Dahlonega Gold Museum. (Don’t forget to stop by The Fudge Factory located across the street!) Gold panning is still possible throughout the county at a number of working gold mines. Dahlonega is home to North Georgia College & State University, The Military College of Georgia. From hiking on the Appalachian Trail, to fishing and boating in cool creeks and rivers, nature’s beauty surrounds the area.

Throughout the year, Dahlonega is home to a number of festivals, including: Bear on the Square, Mountain Flower Art Festival, July 4th Family Days, and Gold Rush Festival. Read our list of Dahlonega Events & Festivals happening throughout the year
